Selection Process

  • The selection procedure is as follows:-
    • IHQ of MoD reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off/ based on percentage of marks obtained in BE/B.Tech without assigning any reason. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore / Bhopal / Coimbatore / Visakhapatnam during Nov 17 – Mar 18. Selected candidates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview on their e-mail or through SMS (provided by candidates in their application form).
    • SSB interview will be conducted in two Stages. Stage I test consisting of Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Discussion test will be conducted on the first day of arrival at SSB. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II tests comprising of Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview will last for 04 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx duration 03-05 days). 
    • Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be appointed for training as per all India merit of SSB marks depending on the number of vacancies.
    • Change of SSB Centre for interview is not permissible under any circumstance.
    • Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates be addressed to the call up officer of the SSB on receipt of call up letter. Candidates are to download the call up letter on receiving intimation from IHQ MoD (N) at SMS/email (provided by candidate in their application). 
    • No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of tests during SSB interviews. 
    • AC 3 tier rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for that type of commission. Candidates will carry photocopy of the first page of pass book or cheque leaf where the name, A/C No. & IFSC details are mentioned, while appearing for SSB.

Eligibility

  • Educational qualification: 
    • Direct Entry Petty Officer / Senior Secondary Recruitment (SSR): 10+2 qualified in any stream or equivalent examination.
    • Matric Recruits (MR): 10th /equivalent qualified. 
  • Sports Proficiency: 
    • Direct Entry Petty Officer:
      • Team Games: Should have participated at International /National/State level at junior /senior level or represented a University in the Inter University tournament. 
      • Individual Events. Should have attained a minimum of 6th position in Nationals (seniors) or 3rd position in National (juniors) or 3rd position in the Inter University meets. 
    • Senior Secondary Recruitment (SSR) / Matric Recruits (MR): Should have participated at International / National / State level or represented a University in the Inter University tournament.
  • Age limit: 
    • Direct Entry Petty Officer: 17 to 22 years as on date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Aug 1995 to 31 Jul 2000 (Both dates inclusive) 
    • Senior Secondary Recruitment (SSR) / Matric Recruits (MR): 17 to 21 years as on date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Aug 1996 to 31 Jul 2000 (Both dates inclusive). 

Selection Process

  • Deserving candidates would be called to appear for trials at designated Naval Centers. The candidates qualifying trials will undergo medical examination at INS Hamla, Mumbai. The offer of enrolment will be forwarded to the selected candidates only, which will be strictly determined by requirement in particular sports disciplines and availability of vacancies. Request for change of venue of selection trials will not be entertained. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. 

Medical Standards

  • Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.
  • Minimum height 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum Chest expansion of 5 cms. 
  • Good mental, medical and physical health free from any disease/ disability, likely to interfere with efficient performance of duties. Colour perception: CP II. 
  • No Cardio- vascular disease, surgical deformities like knock knee, flat feet etc. Infection of ears, no history of fits or psychiatric ailment, vericose vein, corrective surgery for eye sight etc.
  • Medical standard should be as per the detailed guidelines issued by IHQ MoD (Navy) in NO (Spl) 01/2008. 
  • Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to examination.

    • SSR
      • Eye Sight: 6/6, 6/9 
      • Correctable with glasses: 6/6 both eyes 
    • MR
      • Eye Sight: 6/36, 6/36 
      • Correctable with glasses: 6/9 both eyes 
    • NMR

  • Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reversed side of palm/ back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body is not acceptable and candidate will be barred from recruitment.

UES Indian Navy 2018 Selection Procedure 

  • The eligible candidates applying for entry will have to appear before a Naval Campus Selection Team for interview. The Candidates qualifying the campus interview will be shortlisted for SSB interview on the basis of his/her preference for the entry, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria for particular entry. In case of excess candidates further shortlisitng will be based on percentage scored up to 5th semester in BE/B. Tech. The final selection of Branch/Specialization/Cadre will be decided by IHQ-MoD (Navy) depending on number of vacancies in particular Branch/Specialization/Cadre. 
  • Candidates shortlisted during campus interview will be called for SSB interview at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Coimbatore/ Visakhapatnam between Dec 17 to Apr 18. Selected candidates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview on their E-mail or through SMS as provided by candidates in their application form.

Eligibility

  • Educational qualification: Qualified in 10+2 / equivalent examination with Maths & Physics and atleast one of these subjects:- Chemistry/Biology/Computer science.
  • Age limit: Candidates should have been born between 01 Feb 97 to 31 Jan 2001 (Both dates inclusive).

Selection Criteria

  • Selection of recruits is based on the order of merit on their performance in Written Test, qualifying Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in Medical Examinations.

Scheme of Examination

  • Written exam:
    • The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type. 
    • The question paper will comprise of four sections i.e. English, Science, Mathematics and General
    • Knowledge. 
    • The question paper will be of 10+2 standard and the syllabus for the examination is available on website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in. 
    • Duration of examination will be one hour.
    • The candidates are required to pass in all sections and in aggregate
  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT): PFT will consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7minutes, 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push-ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.
  • Medical Standards.
    • Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standards prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry. 
    • Minimum height 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum chest expansion of 5 cms. 
    • The candidate must be in good physical and mental health, free from any defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat under peace as well as war conditions as per Navy Order (Special) 01/2008. Extract of the Navy Order can be accessed from the official recruitment website. 
    • Initial Medical Examination for recruitment will be considered only “Provisionally fit subject to fitness in the final medical examination”. Final Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be done at INS Chilka. Candidates, who are NOT found medically fit in the final medical examination at INS Chilka, will NOT be enrolled for training. No “Appeal” is permitted for review after the final enrolment medical examination at INS Chilka.
  • Visual Standards: Without Glasses: 6/6 (Better Eye)  | 6/9 (Worse Eye) & With Glasses: 6/6 (Better Eye)  | 6/6 (Worse Eye)
  • Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e, from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reversed side of palm/ back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body is not acceptable and candidate will be barred from recruitment.

  • ‘Log–in’ with the registered E-mail Id and Click on “Current Opportunities”.

  • Fill up the Form completely. Before clicking the ‘Submit’ button make sure all the details are correct and all required documents are scanned in original and uploaded. 
  • Online applications will be further scrutinised for eligibility and may be rejected if found not eligible in any respect.

Selection Process


  • SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled form Jan 17 to Aug 17 at Bangalore / Bhopal / Coimbatore / Visakhapatnam. Interview will be conducted in two Stages.   • Tattoo: Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body, however, certain concessions are permitted to candidates belonging to tribal areas communities as declared by the Government of India. For other candidates permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand.
